Purpose of the Soil and Water Conservation District

In Indiana, a soil and water conservation district (SWCD) is a unit of state government responsible for soil and water conservation programs within its county boundaries.  The district provides information about soil, water, and related natural resource concerns; and connects land users to sources of educational, technical and financial assistance to implement conservation practices and technologies.

• The district is recognized as the local hub that connects land users to educational, financial and technical assistance for applying conservation practices and best management technologies to address soil and water quality problems. 
• Local citizens recognize the district as a key leader in soil and water quality improvements.

 
Meetings

Five supervisors (three elected and two appointed) meet the second Tuesday, of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Courthouse Annex Building. The district operates under the Indiana Open Door Law(IC 5-14-1), which establishes a standard of openness in conducting public business.
