Purpose of the Soil and Water Conservation District
In Indiana, a soil and water conservation district
(SWCD) is a unit of state government responsible for soil and water
conservation programs within its county boundaries. The
district provides information about soil, water, and related
natural resource concerns; and connects land users to sources of
educational, technical and financial assistance to implement
conservation practices and technologies.
Visions of Success
Five supervisors (three elected and two appointed) meet the second Tuesday, of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Courthouse Annex Building. The district operates under the Indiana Open Door Law(IC 5-14-1), which establishes a standard of openness in conducting public business.
